متن کاملPressure Pulses and Blood Pressure Values in Unanesthetized Dogs
At present two views are held concerning the relationship between left ventricular and aortic pressure curves as regards contour and ordinate value. The one, sponsored by Wiggers (5) on the basis of experiments on anesthetized dogs with open chests and subscribed to by many others, holds that the systolic portions of both curves are parallel and of approximately the same height, whereas the oth...
متن کاملResting blood pressure values of adult athletes.
BACKGROUND Regular physical activity has a favorable effect upon the prevention and treatment of hypertension. Various movements in sports, however, affect blood pressure (BP) differently. METHODS In the present study, the resting BP data of a large number (3,697) of young men and women (age: 19-40 years) who participated in sports medical examinations were compared according to their sport. ...
متن کامل[Which threshold values should be recommended in ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and self blood pressure monitoring?].
New methods to evaluate blood pressure – such as ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) and home monitoring of blood pressure (HMBP), have been increasingly more used in clinical practice as key source of additional information to the traditional evaluation of blood pressure measuring at the doctor’s office. There is a growing body of evidence available to show that both methods are strong...
متن کاملBlood pressure and chemistry: some correlations and apparent correlations.
The reported correlation between plasma calcium and blood pressure has been investigated in 412 young men and women. In this sample, it seemed to be due to a stronger correlation between blood pressure and plasma albumin. Blood pressures were also significantly correlated with plasma high-density lipoprotein in men and with plasma uric acid in women.
